Urgent Evacuation Alert as Bushfires Endanger Lives
Residents of Western Australia’s Mid West are facing urgent evacuation alerts due to multiple bushfires endangering lives and property. Fires are currently raging in areas including Warradarge, Boothendarra, Eganu, and Hill River, located in the shires of Coorow and Dandaragan, approximately 245 kilometers north of Perth.
Bushfire Emergency Warnings
An emergency warning is in effect along sections of the Brand Highway, a crucial route connecting Perth and Geraldton. Authorities advise residents to evacuate southward on this highway if it is safe to do so. A second emergency warning has been issued for fires near Mindarra, Mogumber, and Red Gully in the shires of Dandaragan, Gin Gin, and Victoria Plains, roughly 150 kilometers south of Warradarge.

- “There is a threat to lives and homes,” warned a Department of Fire and Emergency Services representative.
- If possible, leave for a safer location without delay.
- It is unsafe to return home if you are away.
Nearby residents must also prepare for potential evacuation as fire conditions may change rapidly. Multiple other fires are also active across the state, coinciding with a heatwave that has escalated extreme fire danger conditions.

The Bureau of Meteorology predicts very hot and dry weather, compounded by gusty winds. High temperatures are expected to reach the low 40s during the day and mid-20s at night.
