Universal Studios set to launch UKs first theme park with £50bn investment following planning approval
Britain is set to welcome its first Universal Studios theme park, with planning approval granted for a major entertainment complex in Bedfordshire. The park, which is anticipated to commence operations by 2031, aims to draw over eight million visitors each year.

The event marks a pivotal development for the area, with Bedford Borough Council estimating an economic benefit of £50 billion. Mohammed Yasin, the Labour MP for Bedford and Kempston, confirmed that the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities, and Local Government approved this landmark project.
Project Approval and Economic Impact
The project received its approval through a special development order. This mechanism allows the central government to approve developments without following traditional local planning procedures. Yasin characterized this decision as a “landmark moment for Bedford and the wider region.”

This entertainment resort will become the sixth installment of Universal Studios, joining existing parks in the United States, Beijing, Japan, and Singapore.
